Titans nearly blow lead, saved by NFL-record FG

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

The final score was simple, Titans 38 - Texans 36, but the process of getting there was not so simple. The Titans dominated the Houston Texans for the first three quarters of their game today, but the Texans staged a massive fourth quarter comeback to take the lead, only for the Titans to win on Rob Bironas’ last second NFL-record 8th field goal of the game.

Titans Top Falcons

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

On a day when the offense turned the ball over five times and could only find the end zone once, the Titans used a dominating performance by the defensive line and an interception return for a touchdown to run their record to 3-1 by defeating the Atlanta Falcons, 20-13. (more…)

Four more years for Jeff Fisher

Monday, September 17th, 2007

The Titans have reportedly agreed to a four-year extension with coach Jeff Fisher. An official announcement is expected later today.

Fisher is working this year under an option which was exercised by owner K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. The extension will keep Fisher under contract through the 2011 season.

I’m glad to see Adams finally agree to Fisher’s demands, whatever they may have been. It probably wasn’t a monetary issue, since his new contract will reportedly pay him only $5.5 to 6 million per year, a little low compared to Mike Holmgren’s $8M. (more…)

Titans acquire DE Bryce Fisher

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Six-year veteran defensive end Bryce Fisher has been acquired in a trade with Seattle.

I’m not too familiar with him and don’t really recall him from the Titans-Seahawks game two years ago. Fisher’s stats are pretty good though. He’s averaged 7 sacks and 47 tackles for the last three years.

He sounds like pretty good quality depth. The Seahawks connection has surfaced again, with Mike Reinfeldt and Lake Dawson being familiar with him in Seattle.

The Titans released DT Jesse Mahelona to make room on the roster for him and they now have five DEs. Fisher will join the rotation of KVB, Odom, LaBoy and Conover. My guess is Conover will be a weekly inactive.

If any of you are familiar with Fisher, please share your thoughts with us.

Titans positional analysis - running backs

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

The Titans were dealt two body blows to their running game this offseason.

Most notable was the loss of Travis Henry in free agency. I was one of those who was critical of Tennessee GM Mike Reinfeldt for not being able to re-sign him, but I understand how it happened. Not that I have to like it.

LenDale White delivered the other blow by showing up for OTAs out of shape, overweight, and nursing a hamstring, the same thing which caused his draft stock to plummet a year ago. It’s once more raised questions about his dedication, commitment and work ethic.

Enough questions were raised to make the Titans spend a second-round draft pick for another running back and to re-sign Chris Brown, who had fallen out of favor and was allowed to walk as an unrestricted free agent. (more&#823 ;)

Game Notes: Titans Whack Pack, 35-21

Friday, September 1st, 2006
Never mind that the Titans’ win came against a team that had only three days rest and played reserves for most of the game. It was a much-needed victory for the previously winless Titans. Tennessee at Green Bay Pregame Analysis

Thursday, August 31st, 2006
Winless Tennessee will visit historic Lambeau Field for a rare Friday afternoon preseason contest with the 1-2 Packers. Green Bay requested the game be changed from 7:00 pm to 3:00 pm in order not to conflict with Friday night high school football games, a request the Titans were happy to accommodate. The teams have a [...]

Monday, August 7th, 2006
Coach Jeff Fisher was just interviewed on a local radio station and revealed details of this morning’s secret activities. At approximately 0430 hours (4:30 am) this morning, Fisher, his staff, and a cadre of soldiers from the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell dragged players from their beds, instructing them to quickly dress in T-shirts, shorts, and [...]
